Effective editing and proofreading can improve and enhance even good text. As a professional freelance copy-editor and proofreader, I aim to engage with text to make it clear, concise and correct whilst respecting the author's voice.

I have been freelance since the 1990s, I am an advanced professional member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP), and I work with UK and international clients in the publishing industry. I copy-edit and proofread on screen. That way, all parts of a project can be emailed to me or uploaded to a secure website. This saves time and resources.

When copy-editing I use Microsoft Word. Adobe Acrobat and PDF-Xchange Viewer are my preferred tools when proofreading, and I mark up the proofs digitally using Acrobat's comment tools or stamps that conform to the British Standard.

I regularly work on a variety of projects including books, looseleaf manuals, market reports, interactive CD-ROMs and websites, and I specialise in business, property investment and development, finance, and education (excluding maths and science).
